Thank You Soma is a documentary film by Carol Mansour, comissioned by the International Labour Organization as part of its efforts to engage the general public and employers in debate concerning migrant workers’ rights in the MENA region.
The film is based on the real story of Soma and Nour, and was not guided by a script, but rather an organic exploration of Nour and Soma’s perspectives.
The design for the film needed to show the bond between the two women and the colourful culture clash that takes place in their story while remaining versatile and positive. Nour and Soma’s relationship is beautiful, sad and uplifting all at once, and these many layers needed to be portrayed across the different media around the documentary.
